Gelato Mio was founded at 2003 at Coolum Beach, Queensland. At Gelato Mio, we carefully maintains the quality of all our products.

We believe that today’s mass-produced ice-creams and frozen desserts are no longer a healthy treat. Almost all the basic ingredients are heavily processed and mass-produced.

At Gelato Mio, we invest our time and resources in crafting a product from natural ingredients with the wholesome, simple and distinctive flavor that only real milk and fresh, local produce can provide.

Our fruit is hand picked - sourced by us from local markets according to freshness and sweetness. Our pineapples are grown in the volcanic soils of the glasshouse Mountains. Our bananas are slow grown in the Noosa hinterland, without the use of chemicals. Our local limes are what we believe to be the best in the country, and yes they are freshly squeezed. We use local figs, and our macadamias are locally grown and freshly roasted. We don't use any artificial colours or flavours.

Our gelatos and sorbets are made without excessive fats or sugars. The result is a natural, healthier, more flavoursome product and we know that our customers can taste the difference.

We believe that our customers are part of a growing market segment who understands that honesty, integrity and the high quality fresh ingredients offer superior taste and sustainability.

Gelato Mio

has been a constant presence at the Royal National Agricultural Show (EKKA) in Brisbane every year since 2004.

Gelato Mio have won 7 gold medals, 10 silver and bronze medals at the EKKA. In 2011 they received the highest possible score for their award-winning hazelnut Gelato.

Gelato Mio has also been invited each year since its opening to the Australian Dairy Awards competition in Melbourne.

Our gelato is a natural luxury. 

We avoid the temptation to take shortcuts when it comes to making gelato and sorbet. While syrups, concentrates or powders may “taste just like the real thing,” our mission is clear. 

We provide only healthful frozen treats made with the best and freshest ingredients money can buy.

At Gelato Mio, we are passionate about quality. We make our gelato and sorbet the traditional Italian way, with the freshest fruits and all-natural ingredients. The result is a light, deliciously smooth frozen dessert with 70% less fat than ice cream.

By using real ingredients, we achieve a creamy, rich texture with a real depth of  flavour. Our gelato has low fat content because we use less cream, and our fresh fruit sorbets are all natural with very high fruit content.

Our sorbets are vegan, non-dairy

To make the best gelato we start with the best ingredients. 

Each day we handcraft small batches of gelato and sorbet on-site at our Coolum Beach store to create the freshest, most delicious flavors found in Queensland. 

Our fruit is hand - sourced by us from local markets according to freshness and sweetness. Our pineapples are grown in the volcanic soils of the glasshouse Mountains. Our bananas are slow grown in the Noosa hinterland, without the use of chemicals. We procure the finest ingredients locally to turn our gelato and sorbet into mouth-watering works of art.

Gelato is only as good as the milk used to make it.

We use award winning Permeate milk. Permeate milk is far superior to regular milk and is:

  • Rich in calcium for strong bones
  • Natural source of protein
  • No artificial additives or preservatives
     
  • Our sorbets are made with fresh fruit in season, sourced locally and organic where possible.
